FCT CELEBRATES FIRS BABIES OF 2025

The FCT Administration is to set up a structure to celebrate birthdays for the first babies born in the Territory on the first day of January every year.

Mandate Secretary of women affairs Secretariat of the FCT Administration Dr Adedayo Benjamin-Laniyi disclosed this during visits to the Six Area councils of the FCT to welcome and celebrate new babies born on the first day of January 2025.

Laniyi who was full of excitement stated that for the fact that the babies are the first to be born in the FCT in the year , they will remain first and have become priority of government.

The Secretary who prayed for the well-being of the babies presented gifts and cash to parents of the babies on behalf of the FCT Administration urged the parents to ensure that the babies are properly taken care of and raise them up to be good citizens of the country.

Also speaking during the visits, the Acting Executive Secretary of the FCT Primary health Care Board Dr Ruqayya Wamako pledged that the first babies will enjoy free under five health services till they attain the age of five . These services Dr Wamako said includes routine immunisation and other child care services.  She advised the parents to ensure that the babies are brought to FCT Primary health facilities to access these services.

The FCT First babies were selected from deliveries at FCT Primary health care facilities across the six Area councils of the FCT on the 1st day of January 2025.

Secretary of Women affairs and Acting Executive Secretary of FCT Primary health care board alongside their staff took time to tour all the six Area councils where the babies were delivered at different primary health care facilities.

Highlight of the visit was at Karonmajiji Primary health care centre where a baby was born to a physically challenged mother and a visually impaired father.
